Grand opening of the gardening season
GARDENIA is the largest gardening celebration. The phenomenon of the Fair lies in the excellent organization, the date which is convenient for the exhibitors, great location in Poznań and excellent atmosphere. GARDENIA is a grand opening of the new gardening season, announcing the arrival of spring, setting the trends, but above all connecting greenery enthusiasts from Poland and Europe. For three days, GARDENIA was visited by the industry representatives e.g. from Austria, Belarus, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Germany, Portugal, Russia, Sweden and the UK. – We are very glad with the presence of such a large international audience. The more so that it is of great importance for our exhibitors – emphasizes Jakub Patelka.
All the major manufacturers, distributors and importers of the horticultural industry present their offer at GARDENIA, as well as nurserymen and architects. This fact is well known to the visitors who come to GARDENIA eagerly, seeking inspiration and looking for the possibility to create their dream gardens.
Meetings and training sessions for professionals
During the three days of the GARDENIA Fair, a number of interesting conferences
and shows were held. The first day of the Fair started with the ninth edition of the "Urban Garden Art" seminar, organized by the editorial staff of the "Zieleń Miejska" magazine. The theme of this year's meeting will be "Green for city, city for green". The conference, led by Professor Piotr Urbański
from the University of Life Sciences in Poznań, attracted great interest on the part of the managers of green areas, contractors, gardeners and landscape architects. Another very interesting meeting was the training session dedicated to the representatives of garden centres, organized by the Polish Association of Garden Centres.
The number of participants was also significant during the "Stylish garden" design workshop, co-organized by the Department of Landscape Art at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. This year's Fair was also accompanied by the "GO-OSTO" urban game, the Green Educarium, which is a series of lectures on the use of new solutions in green areas, and the second edition of the "INSPIRING ARRANGEMENTS" competition, during which, in front of the visitors' eyes, extremely beautiful garden marvels were created. The attractions were organised by the Polish Association of Garden Creators.
On February 27-28, the stars of the world of gardening appeared on the stage and revealed the most important principles of plant care, as well as the latest trends in gardening. Marek Jezierski conducted the workshop entitled "Dream Garden Created with Passion", and talked about the most popular varieties of vegetables and flowers to grow on balconies, as well as about growing herbs and sprouts at home. He also invited the audience to demonstration classes of composing individual balcony boxes. The Fair was also visited by Maja Popielarska, who presented the awards in the "INSPIRING ARRANGEMENTS" competition and was shooting her programme in the area of the Fair. Witold Czuksanow was another guest to the Fair, and he conducted the Gardening Competition.
Greenery lovers had an opportunity to get a number of ideas as well during the events organized at the stand of the "Piękno i Pasje" bimonthly. For the three days of the Fair, it was also possible to admire the decoration of the sweet buffet by the Republika Słoneczna Culinary Studio, as well as of a terrace table prepared by Kamil Konieczny from the Bungalow company, embroidered tablecloths and napkins by Zbigniew Rosa, and articles made from old wood by Karolina Kulka.
GARDENIA was as well a unique opportunity to create one's own garden. It was all thanks to the "Design Emergency Service", which will allowed the Fair visitors to arrange backyard gardens independently. Support was also provided by the specialists from the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture at the University of Life Sciences in Poznań. Surely, two lectures for the general public were also an attraction of the Fair. The first one, dedicated to the issues of appropriate neighbourhood of plants in the garden, was conducted by Diana Szczęsna, MSc, a botanist at the University of Wroclaw, at the invitation of the "Mam Ogród" magazine.
The methods of selecting soils were discussed by Krzysztof Mielicki from the University of Life Sciences in Poznań. The organizer of this meeting was the Burda Media Polska Sp. z o.o. company, the publisher of the "Mój Piękny Ogród", "Przepis na Ogród" and "Kocham Ogród" magazines.
During the GARDENIA Fair, it was also possible to purchase plants and tools. The enthusiasts of pot and bedding flowers, the owners of fruit trees and decorative shrubs could participate
in the Garden Sale. Among the exhibition stands three mazes made of wooden pallets, plants and wicker were also hidden. Demonstration gardens were designed by the Garte company.
See you next year.
