Katy Perry
Teacher:

Good morning, students. Did you read in the English morning reading session yesterday? Hope that you enjoyed the time reading together with your schoolmates in the early morning to begin day.

This morning, the English broadcast team is sharing with us about a celebrity, an American singer, Katy Perry. You can find an entertainment news about her in yesterday’s ES leisure, which is the newspaper for s4, 5, 6 students.

Let’s listen to the programme.

Ouoh, You’ve got mail!
M: Hey Kris did you read the newspaper yesterday during the morning Reading Session?
K: Yes, of course, I did.
M: Did you read about Katy Perry? She was named as Billboard’s Woman of the Year!
K: I know, I’m a big fan of Katy Perry .She has sold 48 million tracks in the USA alone! Her album Teenage Dream’ has the five number one singles that ties Michael Jackson’s record. And she is only 27-year-old.
M: That’s really impressive. I love her singing when I first heard her voice. She is The Queen of Pop. I bet other singers can’t do that like Katy Perry. What do you like about her?
K: Katy Perry is an amazing artist but do you know that she came from a small town in Nashville and was dropped by the record label when she was 19 years old. There’s a lot of hardship she has been through before her success. What are your favourite songs of her?
M: My favourite songs are Teenage Dream, Wide Awake and Firework.
K: Oh! Firework is so inspiring and meaningful. The lyrics said everyone is original and not replaceable.
K: let’s do this! (play the chorus)
M,K: Thank you.

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards, one blow from caving in?

Do you ever feel already buried deep?

Six feet under screams but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in you?

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine

Just own the night like the 4th of July

'Cause baby, you're a firework

Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, oh
As you shoot across the sky

Baby, you're a firework

Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, oh
You're gonna leave 'em falling down

You don't have to feel like a waste of space

You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

Maybe you're reason why all the doors are closed

So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow
And when it's time, you'll know

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine

Just own the night like the 4th of July

'Cause baby you're a firework

Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, oh
As you shoot across the sky

Baby, you're a firework

Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, oh
You're gonna leave 'em falling down

Boom, boom, boom

Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It's always been inside of you, you, you
And now it's time to let it through

'Cause baby you're a firework

Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, oh
As you shoot across the sky

Baby, you're a firework

Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, oh
You're gonna leave 'em falling down

Boom, boom, boom

Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
