Setting up nhs. Net in outlook

SETTING UP NHS.NET IN OUTLOOK
It is easy to configure Outlook to let you view your Contact account. You can use IMAP or POP3 protocols with Outlook however we recommend IMAP.

Using IMAP:

  1. Open Outlook and click on Tools, then Accounts.

  2. Select 'Add' then 'Mail...'

  3. Enter Your Name

  4. Enter your email address

  5. Select IMAP as your incoming Mail Server from the drop down.

  6. The server names required are:
    Incoming server: IMAPMAIL1.NHS.NET
    Outgoing server: SMTP1.NHS.NET

  7. Click Next.

  8. Add your user name and password for your account, click 'remember Password' then click Next.

  9. Select the method you are using to connect to the service (If you are inside NHS.net select LAN) then click next and finish.

  10. Click on the Properties Button on the Internet Accounts view.

  11. Click on the 'Server' tab and ensure that the option for 'My outgoing server requires authentication' is ticked.

  12. Click on the Settings button and select 'use same settings as my incoming mail server.'

  13. Click on the 'Advanced' tab and tick the boxes under 'incoming server' and 'outgoing server' stating 'This server requires a secure connection (SSL).' Ensure that the number for the incoming server is 993 and the number for the outgoing server is 587.

  14. Then click OK on all dialogue boxes to save the change.


Using POP3:

  1. Open Outlook and click on Tools, then Accounts.

  2. Select 'Add' then 'Mail...'

  3. Enter Your Name

  4. Enter your email address

  5. Select POP3 as your incoming Mail Server from the drop down.

  6. The server names required are:
    Incoming server: POPMAIL1.NHS.NET
    Outgoing server: SMTP1.NHS.NET

  7. Click Next.

  8. Add your user name and password for your account, click 'remember Password' then click Next.

  9. Select the method you are using to connect to the service (If you are inside NHS.net select LAN) then click next and finish.

  10. Click on the Properties Button on the Internet Accounts view.

  11. Click on the 'Server' tab and ensure that the option for 'My outgoing server requires authentication' is ticked.
