March 1, 2007 1630 hrs (GMT+ 8) Commander of Coalition Task Force (Pacifica) Expressed CTF’s Will to Enforce United Nations Mandate The Commander of Coalition Task Force (Pacfica), Brigadier General (BG) Goh, has expressed the CTF’s will to enforce the United Nations mandate, outlined in the United Nation Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1569, during a meeting with Special Envoy to UN Secretary General this morning.
BG Goh emphasized that the immediate priority of the CTF is to establish a secure environment upon deployment to South Kuhistan, and concurrently to facilitate immediate Humanitarian efforts, according to the UN mandate.
In the meeting, the Special Envoy confirmed that both Kuhistan and Sonora governments had expressed their willingness to comply with the UNSCR 1569 and work towards a peace accord.
In addition, BG Goh has requested UN to play a pivotal role to coordinate the efforts of the International Organisations (IOs), Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) and other humanitarian organizations, so as to expedite humanitarian assistance to those affected in the conflict.
BG Goh has also requested for the UN to garner international support for CTF’s mission and stressed the importance of the International community’s diplomatic and political pressure on external parties, who are supporting the Kuhistan-Sonora conflict.
